The Day Hospital is committed to providing:
- The best available care to our patients
- The best available service to our doctors
- A competitive, affordable and safe health care service to our community.
We are excited to release another update on the wonderful happenings at Honeysuckle Day Hospital in 2021.
Firstly, a huge welcome to our new Director of Nursing Paige Black. Paige brings enthusiasm and a wealth of perioperative managerial experience to HDH. With a cheerful and friendly manner, she has won over all of us here. We are so delighted to welcome Paige to the HDH family.
Lately, HDH has expanded the scope of services we offer, by facilitating bone marrow biopsies. Patients can have their bone marrow biopsies in a comfortable, quiet, soothing atmosphere, with the beautiful Newcastle harbour views greeting them at the doorstep.
Thanks to the efforts of staff and patients alike, HDH remains a covid safe facility where excellent patient outcomes are our goal.
We are committed to continuously complying with our Quality Management System which is based on ISO9001:2015, the international standard for Quality Management. We are committed to continuously complying with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHSS) to improve the quality of health service provision in Australia. We are also committed to continuously improving, maintaining standards, and learning from others. Best practice keeps on changing, and we need to keep up to date to improve what we do.
Honeysuckle Day Hospital is a fully Accredited Facility until 2024. We continue to have outstanding results in the last quarter for Honeysuckle Day Hospital’s Clinical Indicators:
- Hospital Infection Rate 0%
- Patient Incidents 0%
- Medication Incidents 0%
- Unplanned return to Theatre 0%
Coronavirus update
On a more sombre note, the pandemic has reached our shores with force in recent weeks. Although Newcastle at present is not an exposure site, staff, and patient well-being is at the forefront of all endeavours at HDH. Not only are we practicing hygiene and safety measures as advised by NSW Health, but we have also helped facilitate COVID vaccinations of our staff.
We have the QR scan code for our patients and staff, a COVID Safe checklist as a safety measure prior to each appointment, and of course mandatory mask-wearing. Please scan in when you enter our Facility and check out when you leave. If you need help just ask a staff member. COVID-19 infection rates in NSW are continuing to rise with the DELTA variant. We commit to continue with our social distancing and patient screening for early recognition of the virus. If you have any concerns, please speak with us.
HDH surveys every patient who has a procedure with us, to ensure comments, concerns can be raised in a private manner. We take all feedback seriously and always make efforts to improve however and whenever we can. HDH patient feedback surveys have been filled with nothing but praise for our caring and attentive staff. A big thank you for the loyalty and ongoing dedication to the hospital, thank you to all the staff at Honeysuckle Day Hospital who continuously strive for excellence in care – this does not go unnoticed. Well done to the HDH team!
